I miss being an emotional teenager.
Emotions were allowed back then! You could blame it on hormones and everyone would accept it. As a grown up you need a little more self control.
Re-listening to Bright Eyes (Conor Oberst) has brought a whole bucket full of memories flooding back! I was quite a strange one, very isolated as a teenager. I've always had a love of music but it used to influence me a lot; as it did most kids I guess! I just love the flow of this song and his voice floating along with the twangy guitar. Very easy to listen to but also depressing.
Reminds me of teenage years:
"I got a flask inside my pocket we can share it on the train"
"What was normal in the evening by the morning seems insane"
"The mask I polish in the evening by the morning looks like shit"
"And I'm not sure what the trouble was that started all of this"
All those house parties getting far too drunk on our parents vodka thinking our lives were so tragic because the boy we liked didn't like us back! Those honestly were the best days for me! I remember once I was walking home through my town looking so hungover with a bottle of fruit juice after prom and running in to PE teachers but being so blissfully happy having had such a wonderful time with all my friends and knowing I had the next few days to just sleep it off in the sun- the days of GCSE summer.
This line still applies to my life however:
"What was simple in the moonlight by the morning never is"
The morning is always the worst part of the day, the moonlight means I made it through another day.
